Everyone...wear your crazy socks today, March 21, 2016, for World Down Syndrome Day.  Be crazy and loud!  Wear your most colorful and goofy socks, even 3 at a time, to show support and raise awareness!  Speech and Language Plus is supporting!!!  We hope you are too!

What is Down Syndrome? 

Down syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by abnormal cell division resulting in extra genetic material on chromosome 21. This genetic disorder, which varies in severity, can cause intellectual disability and developmental delays.  In some people it causes health problems.  Down syndrome is the most common genetic chromosomal disorder and cause of learning disabilities in children.  One in every 691 babies in the United States is born with Down syndrome, making Down syndrome the most common genetic condition.  Approximately 400,000 Americans have Down syndrome and about 6,000 babies are born with Down syndrome each year in the US.   To learn more please visit the National Down Syndrome Society.
